The SBI served notification of suspicion to the former head of Lviv Railway for embezzlement of over UAH 31 million
The employees of the State Bureau of Investigation, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, served notification of suspicions to the former head of the Lviv Railway regional branch of JSC “UKRAINIAN RAILWAYS. His actions caused losses to the state-owned company in amount of UAH 31 million.
The official deliberately ignored the instructions of the management of JSC “UKRAINIAN RAILWAYS” and allowed a private legal entity to use rolling stock—private locomotives—on the tracks of the state-owned company's general network. This was done in violation of the Technical Operation Rules of the Ukrainian Railways.
As a result of these actions, JSC “UKRAINIAN RAILWAYS” lost UAH 31.1 million in freight charges, which significantly affected the financial interests of the state.
The actions of the former manager were classified under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of office resulting in serious consequences).
The article provides for up to 6 years of imprisonment.
