The State Bureau of Investigations suspects one of heads of Kirovohrad region prosecutor's office in bribe-taking (VIDEO)

The SBI employees reported suspicion to one of the heads of Kirovohrad region prosecutor's office. The operation was conducted in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General's Office.

The official promised to help a man in registration of the disability status in exchange for a bribe.

It was established that the local resident turned to a psychic about the fate of his sick father - whether he should undergo surgery or register for disability status. The "psychic" decided to make some money and suggested to register for the disabled status and provided the contact of her acquainted prosecutor. The official hinted that the procedure for registration of disability is long and it is needed to resolve the issue with the head of the commission in another region for 7.5 thousand dollars.

The prosecutor received the money near the workplace allegedly to hand it over to the head of the medical and social examination commission. Then he was detained by law enforcement officers.

He is suspected of attempting to give an undue advantage to an official who holds a responsible position, for committing any action in the interests of a third party using the power and official position (Part 4 of Art. 27, Part 2 of Art. 15, Part 3 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 4 to 8 years with or without confiscation of property.
