The employees of the State Bureau of Investigation with the assistance of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), have completed another pre-trial investigation into the former head of one of the SSU departments during the Yanukovych term, who currently holds a position in the occupation administration in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region.

The indictment has been sent to the court.

The former law enforcement officer has been wanted internationally since 2014 for high treason and for participating in the dispersal of Euromaidan activists.

It has been established that during the russian armed invasion to Ukraine in 2022, the defendant voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the occupying authorities in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region and assumed a leadership position in the so-called «State Security Service». An indictment regarding this matter has already been sent to the court.

The new charges concern the fact that in 2024, the man assumed the position of so-called «deputy governor of Zaporizhzhia region» where, while aiding the occupation administration, he performed administrative, economic, organizational, and managerial functions.

The employees of the SBI documented the suspect’s criminal activities, which served as the basis for bringing him to justice.

He was served notification of suspicion in absentia for a criminal offense under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

During the pre-trial investigation, investigation authority obtained a court order authorizing a special pre-trial investigation. The pre-trial investigation into this matter has now been completed and the indictment has been sent to court.

The procedural guidance is provided by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
