The SBI uncovered goods from russia worth UAH 1.5 million at Zhytomyr customs, they were seized for the state needs
The State Bureau of Investigations continues its effective work on counteracting customs frauds and detecting goods that dealers are trying to supply from the russian federation.
During the course of large-scale preventive measures, SBI employees conducted searches at Zhytomyr Customs, exposing goods from the Russian Federation that were illegally imported into Ukraine. The total value of the Russian property was more than UAH 1.5 million.
It was found that one of the capital's companies in September 2022 tried to import car parts from Poland to Ukraine, which according to documents allegedly belonged to a Chinese company.
In fact, the goods were manufactured and imported from the russian federation.
The labels of more than 2 thousand boxes with various automotive parts of the JSC "Balakovorezinatechnika", in particular for VAZ cars, left no doubt - the goods were of russian origin.
The found russian parts were arrested and seized as part of the criminal investigation. The issue of transferring the property to the National Agency of Ukraine for finding, tracing and management of assets derived from corruption and other crimes (ARMA) is being settled.
The SBI agents continue to examine the circumstances of the import of russian goods into the territory of Ukraine, the legality of actions of customs officers is being checked.
Preliminary classification of the offense: abuse of power or position, which caused grave consequences (Part 2 Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 6 years.
The procedural guidance of the pre-trial investigation is carried out by the Zhytomyr Region Prosecutor's Office.
The State Bureau of Investigation is consistently working to counteract abuses at customs. As of early December 2022, the SBI investigated 519 such crimes. 147 persons were served suspicion notices, 110 indictments were sent to court.
A significant achievement in this area was the detection of a scheme at Odesa Customs that caused losses to the state of more than UAH 1.5 billion.
