The State Bureau of Investigation has stopped another large-scale food theft scheme for the military (VIDEO)

During the war, when the entire country is working for victory, some businessmen try to make money by defrauding the Ukrainian Armed Forces. That is why the State Bureau of Investigation continues its systematic work to identify and disrupt various criminal schemes used by dishonest businessmen to make money while martial law is in effect.

The SBI agents, together with the National Police of the Dnipro Region and the Military Counterintelligence Department of the State Security Service, uncovered an organised group that was embezzling and reselling food products intended for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

One of the private companies supplied food to more than 45 military units. In just six months of the 2022 war, it received military contracts worth more than UAH 2 billion.

In the documents, the businessmen specified one quantity of products, but sent completely different quantities to the military units. The remaining products were resold through a network of intermediaries.

The SBI conducted nearly 70 searches during the large-scale special operation. As a result, more than 30,000 cans of stewed products weighing more than 7 tonnes and ready for resale, as well as nearly 4 million UAH in various currencies, were seized.

The confiscated goods will be given to the military. To compensate for the losses, dozens of cars used to transport the stolen goods products were seized, as well as drafts of documents proving the illegal activity.

Currently, one of the company's representatives has received a notice of suspicion of embezzlement, misappropriation, or confiscation of property through abuse of office (Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 8 years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, the issue of serving notices of suspicion to other offenders is being decided.

Procedural supervision is carried out by the Dnipro Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Military and Defense Sphere of the Southern Region.
