The traitor from Sumy region, who was fighting on the side of russia, was sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on the materials of the SBI, the court found guilty of high treason in absentia the former serviceman from Sumy region, who was fighting against Ukraine on the side of russia.
In 2019, the man moved with his family to Belgorod, russia, received russian citizenship, and after the start of the full-scale invasion, he voluntarily joined the occupation army.
In September 2022, during the fighting near the village of Chervonopopivka in the Luhansk region, he was captured by Ukrainian defenders along with other russian soldiers. Later, the traitor was exchanged for Ukrainian military prisoners.
The court found him guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason) and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
